On the fourth night of our celebration the Goddess introduced to me, the caretakes of the earth, The Four Directions.
The north brings strong cold winds and snow that blankets the Earth. These are purifying causing trees to drop their leaves and the Earth to rest. It is also the teacher of strength, patience and endurance. One who can face these winds head on, has mastered these virtues.
The east brings the guiding beacon of the sun and the hope of coming seasons bounty’s. It is also a teacher of understanding. We can see things for what they truly are when light is shed on them.
The south brings warmth and life. The sun as at it’s highest in the southern sky and is best for growing. Reminding us to value these gifts and not waste them.
The west completes the cycle. The sun sets here and darkness falls, signifying end of life to many. It takes courage and resolve to face ones mortality.
May we always heed their words, and never waste their gifts.
